What's new for 2024?
The newest edition of the Chevy Silverado 1500 comes with two new exterior paint choices: Slate Gray Metallic and Lakeshore Blue Metallic. If, after a test drive, you go with the 6.2-liter 420-horsepower V8 you can get an active exhaust that will serve up a powerful soundtrack when you select the Sport mode. OnStar and wireless smartphone integration are now standard features on all new Chevy Silverado 1500 models and Chevrolet has renamed the 2.7-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, calling it the “TurboMax.”
Design
The new 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 has three bed lengths to choose from: A short 5.8-foot bed, a standard 6.6-foot bed and a long 8.0-foot bed. You can configure these with a two-door Regular Cab body style, a four-door Double Cab or a larger four-door Crew Cab.
Trim levels
The latest Chevy Silverado 1500 offers Refugio buyers a total of eight trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, RST, Trail Boss, LTZ, High Country and ZR2.
Test drive the Silverado 1500 for its performance
The base-level engine is the TurboMax 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that can develop 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. After that is a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Next up is a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The Duramax® turbo-diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine comes through with 277 horsepower along with 460 pound-feet of torque. The fastest Chevy Silverado 1500 for 2024 is the 6.2-liter V8 that reach 60 mp in only 5.5 seconds.
Towing and payload capacity
The latest version of the Silverado 1500 with the 6.2-liter V8 has a towing capacity of up to 13,300 pounds which is enough to surpass the Ram 1500 by 550 pounds. The 5.3-liter V8 you can tow a maximum of 11,500 pounds and Silverado 1500 trucks with the turbocharged four-cylinder can tow as much as 9,500 pounds. Payload capacities in the new Silverado range from 1,870 pounds to 2,280 pounds.
Off-road capability in the new Silverado 1500
If you like getting into the great outdoors, a great way to do that is with the Trail Boss trim with hefty tires, a 2.0-inch lift and additional off-road upgrades. The ZR2 version of the Silverado 1500 is the best option if you want to take on the trails. The ZR2 trim is equipped with big mud-terrain tires, skid plates to protect the underbody, a Multimatic spool valve suspension system and a high-approach steel front bumper.
